Department Highlights

• A well equipped modern and spacious laboratory animal house. All quality control facility to do experiment with swiss albino mice and Albino wistar rats.
• Testing provision for pharma products, research findings, Immunological studies, microbiological aasays, mutagenicity and carcinogenisty studies, bio compatability tests, drug screening, Allergic assays and many other testings.
• ANIMAL HOUSE FACILITY: INSTITUTIONAL ANIMAL ETHICS COMMITTEE (1949/PO/Re/S/17/CPCSEA)The IAEC of Prathyusha Engineering College consisting of 9 members has extended the research facility by constructing the animal house and received an approval from CPCSEA on March 2017
• The Department has the cultivation zone for oyster mushroom in a commercial scale. We have a sterile room, specially allocated for the mushroom cultivation. This mushroom cultivation will be a follow up activity by our department to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of biotech students

• “Dr.P.DHASARATHAN”, Head of the Biotechnology Department received “Best Researcher Award”, at International Academicians and Research’s Conclave and Awards 2020 at Hyderabad on 12th January, 2020.
• “Dr.P.DHASARATHAN”, Head of the Biotechnology Department received “Best Researcher Award”, at the third International Conference on “Multidisciplinary Research Trends in Arts, Science, Engineering and Technology at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Hotel, Perambalur on 29th December, 2019.
• “Dr.M.THENMOZHI”, Associate Professor of the Biotechnology Department received “Young Scientist Award”, at the third International Conference on “Multidisciplinary Research Trends in Arts, Science, Engineering and Technology at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Hotel, Perambalur on 29th December, 2019.
• “Dr.P.DHASARATHAN”, Head of the Biotechnology Department presented his innovative poster at 4th Microbiome R&D and Business Collaboration Congress held at Hotel Fort Canny, Singapore, titled “Stimulation of Probiotics on Health Status of Birds challenged with Bacterial Pathogen”
• “Professor Dr.AJA. RANJIT SINGH”, Department of Biotechnology has been honoured by MOSA UNIVERSITY, ZAMBIA as “Ceremonial Chancellor”

Achievements 21-22

• Dr.P.Dhasarathan, Professor & Head of the Department of Biotechnology, was awarded with Pride of India Award- 2022 for the Distinguished Professor for Academic Excellence in the International Conference on Research and Innovations.
• Three students participated in the National Science Day- Mini project Exhibition-2022 held at Prathyusha Engineering College, Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu

• Two teams participated in the AICTE sponsered National level conference on Covid and therapeutics aspects held at Jeppiaar Engineering College. (16-18 March 2022)

Achievements 2020-21

• Two students Bharath Kumar –IV Year, Vaishnavi.V-III Year selected as intern students at Pasteur Institute of India (PIIC), Conoor, Govt of India for a period of   2 years with the stipend of Rs.12000 in the first year and Rs. 15000 in the second year.
• P.Dhasarathan and Dr.M.Thenmozhi achieved ELITE + silver certification in Forests and their management course in the NPTEL examination held during Jan-Dec 2020.
• V, III Year Biotechnology  achieved 5% Topper in Bioreactors course and ELITE + SILVER Certification in the  NPTEL examination held during Jan-Dec 2020.
• B II year certified with ELITE + SILVER in Biochemistry course  in the  NPTEL examination held during Jan-Dec 2020.

• S.S, and Anitha.S of III year Biotechnology participated and was rewarded with a cash prize of “ONE LAKH”in Tamil Nadu Student Innovators Award – TNSI (2019) conducted by EDII,Govt of TN held  on 30th May 2020
• V of III year Biotechnology participated and won First prize with cash award of 1000 for Paper Presentation at the   National level Technical symposium”chembiociv-T20″held at St.Peters Engineering College Avadi, Chennai on 13-02-2020
• J and Harini.V of of III year Biotechnology participated and won Second prize with cash award of 1000  for Paper Presentation at the   National level Technical symposium”chembiociv-T20″held at St.Peters Engineering College Avadi, Chennai on 13-02-2020
• T of IV year Biotechnology achieved 5% Topper in Psychology of Everydaycourse and ELITE + SILVER Certification in the NPTEL examination held during Jul-Dec 2019.
• Following III year – Biotechnology students participated and certified as WINNERS in the District Skill Competition conducted by Tamil Nadu Skill Development corporation ,Government of Tamil Nadu held during February 2020.
