ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The inception of the Department of Sciences & Humanities emanated in the academic year 2001onwards. The department influences as a fulcrum for the disciplines of English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The department has been accomplished with remarkable infrastructure to enrich the learning process among students. Seminars, Orientation Programme, Project Exhibition and Guest lectures are periodically arranged to support the knowledge acquisition of the students. In order to fill the void in between the school and the college, the department envisages on the Bridge Course for every first year student aiming at the integrated melioration of their learning process. The Department has a regiment of highly proficient and versatile members of faculty and non-teaching staff with state of art infrastructure for vitalizing the conducive learning environment among students.

Department of Physics

The Department of Physics, established in 2001, offers the foundational course in Engineering Physics, a core subject for all engineering disciplines. The department is composed of seven faculty members, four of whom hold Doctorates in specialized fields, both experimental and theoretical, including Nanotechnology, Crystal Growth, Spectroscopy, Photonics, and Density Functional Theory (DFT). Known for their exceptional teaching methods and strong research expertise, they significantly contribute to enhancing the students’ learning experience.
The Physics Laboratory is spacious, well-ventilated, and well-lit, featuring large curtained windows. It is thoughtfully furnished with 12 large experiment tables, each equipped with electrical points. The lab is fully equipped with experimental setups that meet the requirements set by Anna University. The Dark Room contains two large circular tables for conducting light-based experiments such as spectrometry, air-wedge, and semiconductor laser experiments. This lab is designed to accommodate up to 30 students simultaneously, ensuring effective practical sessions for all.

Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2001. It serves to provide strong foundation in Basic Chemistry which in turn serves as a for most building block foundational engineering disciplines, The Department has been carrying out the tradition of excellence in maintaining high-quality teaching. The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty members with Doctorate in various specialized areas of Chemistry. The department imparts quality education to its students by means of demonstration and other teaching aids and also frames the code of the students as Engineers, who can make everything possible in science. The department has a well-established Laboratory with sophisticated major and minor equipment which cater to the academic needs of undergraduate students of the institution. Faculty members of the department actively participate and present papers in conferences and attend programs such as workshop, seminar, FDP etc. Various Guest lectures and Industrial visits are arranged for the benefit of students to acquire practical knowledge in their course of study.

Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2001. It serves to provide a strong foundation in Mathematics and its applications in engineering both at undergraduate and post graduate level.
The department of Mathematics has 9 faculty members with flair for teaching as well working on diverse areas such as Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Algebraic Coding Theory, Image Processing, , Queuing Theory, Functional Analysis, Stochastic Process and so on.

Department of English

The vibrant Department of English was established in 2001. The dedicated faculty provides top notch education in English Language and Communication skills. The curriculum focuses on the diverse range of courses such as Professional English and Communicative deftness that fosters Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills. Beyond honing and inculcating language proficiency, the Department offers specialized training in Aptitude, Reasoning and Critical thinking Skills, empowering students with comprehensive deftness, a pre-requisite for one’s placement and career, besides love for the English language.
