College cultural day: Pravrithi
Culture refers to the pattern of human activity and the symbols, which give significance to this activity. Culture is represented through the art, literature, costumes, customs and traditions of a community.
To elucidate the same, the college hosts cultural day every year to showcase their artistic skills and co-curricular talents.The cultural day is organized in the month of March every year and moreover the college permits students to participate in the various inter-collegiate cultural competitions that is held in various parts of the city. PEC accords recognition to the artistic talents of the students and their various manifestations in the contemporary creativity of their young minds. It is a week fest with events spanning various categories like Techincal, Literary, Fine Arts, Gaming, Quizzing, Cultural etc.
The ON stage events like Light Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Dance, Adzap, Dramatics, Dumb Charades are conducted both for boys and girls. Also the various OFF stage events like Vegetable Carving, Jewellery Designing, Mehndi Designing, Pot-Painting, Collage, Face Painting, JAM, Block N Tackle, Rangoli are conducted to encourage and entitle the underlying talents of students.
The College Day ws baptized as FUN N BLAST earlier and now it is renamed as PRAVRITHI ’10-PRATHYUSHA’S CULTURAL POT-POURRI. This year PRAVRITHI’10 was one of the best fests in the history of PEC as it was propagated by certain music and tv celebrities who absolutely portrayed their success stories & achievements that promotes the endeavours of the young generation. Further there were quite a number of rocking performances by our students that was appealing to the celebrities.
Participation in inter-collegiate cultural competitions
Students made novel advances in bagging prizes in various inter-collegiate competitions that was held across the city. Students won prizes in cultural competitions held in INDIRA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, VELAMMAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT and participated in other colleges where they could enable themselves to clear the prelims as SRM UNIVERSITY, ANNA UNIVERSITY (TECHNOFEST’10), VIT, JERUSALEM ENGINEERING COLLEGE, ARIGNAR ANNA ENGINEERING COLLEGE and so on.
Amidst the competition between 18 Engineering Colleges like SRM Valliammai, SVCE(Sriperumbudur), Kings, Magna, Sri Sairam, Sriram, St. Peter’s, TJS Engineering College, Hindustan, Gojan etc, our College Students have won the following prizes for the respective events.
There were totally 7 colleges participated each giving more than two performances for the single event. Colleges like Sri Venkateshwara College (Tirupachur), Vel’s Srinivasa, Rajalakshmi Engg College and other colleges participated. Out of these colleges, our college students won First Place in Western Dance, Second & Third Places in the Folk Dance. The First Prize Winners were awarded with a Trophy followed by individual certificates and gift-watches. The Second Prize Winners were also awarded with a Trophy assisted with certificates and wall-clocks for each individual. And the Third Prize Winners were awarded with Trophy, individual certificates, and also gifted parker pens for each individual. Despite all such glorious victories, our college was awarded for Overall Performance with an ‘Acrylic Shield’.
